If you’re on the picturesque island of Samui this summer you might have the chance to rub shoulders with the stars. Pop princess Britney Spears and tennis star Rafael Nadal will soon be taking their holidays here.

Britney Spears is due to visit Samui in order to rest and recover after her tour of Europe, while the Rafael Nadal is also looking for somewhere to take a break.

Suwat Lipatapanlop, head of the Tennis Association of Thailand, is currently laying plans for Nadal to visit a destination outside Bangkok before he plays in the upcoming tournament.

“We have not yet decided on the place. We are looking for the most suitable destination,” Mr. Suwat told the Samui Express recently.

After consulting a list of Samui’s five-star resorts, Spears is rumoured to have chosen Sila Evason, agreeing to pay just under 10,000 baht for one week.

So, if you’re into star gazing, Samui is the place to be this summer. As Samui’s popularity begins to soar once more, the local tourist board is working hard to promote the island as Thailand’s number one tropical island destination.
