Italian Wood Carver Arrested for Illegally Operating on Koh Phangan
KOH PHANGAN – An Italian national has been apprehended on Koh Phangan for unlawfully working in a profession legally reserved for Thai citizens. The 36-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Monday at his residence, which also served as his workshop.
French Man Arrested in Phuket for Working Illegally
Tourist police conducting the raid discovered the man actively engaged in his craft at a workspace in front of the property, where two foreign customers were viewing his work. Authorities confiscated twelve wood-working tools as evidence. The Italian admitted to operating as a wood carver, stating he possessed the necessary skills and primarily served a foreign clientele. One of his carved wooden frames was priced at approximately 3,000 baht.
