The woman was first noticed by a passerby at around 10:30 A.M. while she was sunbathing face down on the beach. The passerby became concerned when he returned at 1:30 P.M. and saw that her position had not changed. He immediately alerted lifeguards and local police, who rushed to the scene.
Police confirmed that there were no signs of physical assault or foul play. Among her belongings, authorities found a key card for a resort in Karon district, where she had been staying. According to police, the woman had checked into the resort alone on Monday and was scheduled to check out on Thursday.

Security camera footage from the resort showed the woman leaving her room at 10:23 A.M. on Wednesday. She had asked resort staff for directions to the beach before heading out. Police noted that she appeared to be in good health and showed no signs of illness in the video.
The forensic department at Vachira Phuket Hospital estimated that the woman had died four to six hours before doctors conducted their examination. The preliminary cause of death was attributed to heat stroke, a condition caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures, especially in direct sunlight. However, a detailed autopsy will be performed to confirm the exact cause of death.
Police have already contacted the Canadian Embassy to notify the woman’s family in Canada and are coordinating with them to handle the necessary arrangements. The incident has prompted local authorities to remind tourists, particularly elderly visitors, to take precautions against the intense tropical heat, including staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, and seeking shade during peak hours.
