CMPO to appeal Thai Civil Court verdict prohibiting them from dispersing protesters

BANGKOK, Feb 22 – The Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) on Monday will appeal a Civil Court ruling which prohibits it from applying the emergency decree and using force to crack down on the protesters, according to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) secretary general Tarit Pengdith.

The Civil Court on Wednesday ruled to endorse the government-invoked emergency decree but prohibited the use of force and weapons in any crackdown on protesters who have organised peaceful demonstrations in accordance with their rights stipulated in the Constitution.
