Ballot papers stolen and dumped into canal in Chumphon

CHUMPHON, 1 February 2014 (NNT) – Ballot boxes and ballot papers were stolen from their storage site at a school in Chumphon, and dumped into a waterway.

Police investigators on Friday examined the paper ballot boxes and scores of equipment for the election booths that were dumped into a canal in Thung Kha sub-district, Mueang Chumphon district. The investigators also found evidence that the perpetrators had broken into the schools’ warehouse and took almost 2,000 other items.

The school was earlier sealed off by PDRC protesters seeking to disallow the ballots from being distributed to election stations in the province.
