Thai Army chief visits South, intelligence warns of possible car bomb

BANGKOK, Feb 20 – Thailand’s army chief left Bangkok today for the southern border province of Pattani to follow up operations against the insurgency in the border region, as intelligence warns of possible car bombs in the four southern border provinces.

Intelligence warns security and other state agencies in Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces to be on alert for possible car bombings as a group of insurgents reportedly have built explosives into two vehicles–an Isuzu pickup truck and a Proton sedan.
