16-year-old teenager’s Bangkok tollway crash case postponed to July 2

BANGKOK, 22 June 2012 (NNT) – The Central Juvenile and Family Court is postponing its verdict on a case involving a 17-year-old teenager, who allegedly killed nine people and injured several others in a fatal accident in Vibhavadi Rangsit highway on December 28, 2010.

After holding talks with both parties, the presiding judge agreed to postpone the case pending discussions on an out-of-court settlement between the plaintiffs and the defendant. The date of the next hearing is July 2.

The young woman was driving a Honda Civic when it crashed into a passenger van on Bangkok tollway, instantly killing nine people who were thrown from the flyover.

Her case was, on June 23, 2011, handed to the Central Juvenile and Family Court for deliberation. The verdict was supposed to be read today following a series of testimony from the plantiffs’ and the defendant’s witnesses, heard earlier by the court.

Friends and relatives of the victims gathered at the court to attend the hearing, earlier scheduled for this morning.
