More floods likely in Thailand’s central region, storms in south

BANGKOK 6 October, 2011 (NNT) – Flood water in the north will soon recede but the central and the southern regions will have to brace for more storms later this month.

According to National Disaster Warning Centre chief Smith Dhammasaroj, the flood situation in the central region could be far from over as sea level is expected to rise in late October.

Down south, a couple of storms are forecast to move towards the Gulf of Thailand and reach Songkhla Province soon. Thunderstorms and floods are predicted in the region from mid-October until the end of November. Those on the Andaman coast are advised to heed Tsunami warnings.
