  • Interesting story. For expats living in Thailand with child obligations, it is always important to follow the news of these types of child custody cases. This is because the enforcement of related laws still affects those living outside their home country’s jurisdiction. Simply living in Thailand will not necessarily ensure that one no longer owes child support and will not face consequences for defaulting on such obligations, for example. It is surprising that FBI agents are allowed to freely arrest US suspects in Thailand. I wonder if this is due to an outstanding law enforcement treaty the two nations have signed.

Of course, foreigners living in Thailand or elsewhere that have Thai children should become familiar with Thailand child custody laws, as well. If there is any confusion regarding these matters, it is highly recommended that one seek the services of a competent lawyer in Thailand.
