BANGKOK, 27 March 2011 (NNT)-Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said he wished for a transparent election campaign, saying vote-buying wouldl undermine people’s rights to vote, adding that Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra would be able to return to politics as long as he abided by the law.

Following a phone-in by Mr. Thaksin encouraging red shirt protesters to vote for his party in the upcoming polls, Mr. Abhisit said if Mr. Thaksin wished for a return, it would be possible under the laws. The Prime Minister added that he would consult with the Election Commission of Thailand in a bid to promote transparency in the election campaign.
