Thai Govt on High alert Ahead of Coup Anniversary

The prime minister admits the security situation remains worrisome, especially during a red-shirt rally planned for September 19, the 4th anniversary of the 2006 coup.

He has ordered security agencies to keep a close watch on some groups who do not want to see national reconciliation.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has ordered security tightened from now until September 19, the 4th anniversary of the 2006 coup.

Abhisit believes there are some groups who do not wish to see reconciliation take place and are aiming to create public turmoil for political gains.
