32nd Thailand International Motor EXPO 2015 kicks off today

Press Release – The 32nd Thailand International Motor Expo 2015 has kicked off. Car companies launch new models with enticing promotional offers to stimulate year-end market before tax change. Car bookings reaching 50,000 units and number of visitors exceeding 1.5 million are expected.

Kwanchai Paphatphong Organizing Chairman of the 32nd Motor Expo or “The 32nd Thailand International Motor Expo 2015” reveals that the event this year is held under the theme concept of “New Standards… Thai Vehicles Care About The Earth” and the event is honoured by M.L. Panadda Diskul, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, who will preside over the official Opening Ceremony.

Kwanchai continues, “Exhibiting companies represent 33 car brands from 11 countries and 15 motorcycle brands from 8 countries. Highlights of the event will be 4 concept/prototype cars plus more than 10 launches of new car models. Each company will make interesting promotional offers and maintain the old prices before increasing them next year in line with the new excise tax rates. So bookings are expected to reach 50,000 units for cars and 3,000 units for big bikes while the number of visitors will be 1.5 million, generating financial transactions of over 55 billion Baht at the Motor Expo.”

The Motor Expo 2015 is held on a total display area, both inside and outside the Halls, of over 100,000 sq m. Visitors will see 33 brands of cars, namely BMW, CARLSSON, CHANGAN, CHEVROLET, DFSK, FORD, FOTON, FUSO, HONDA, HYUNDAI, ISUZU, JAGUAR, LAMBORGHINI, LAND ROVER, LEXUS, MAZDA, McLAREN, MERCEDES-BENZ, MG, MINI, MITSUBISHI, MOKE, NISSAN, PEUGEOT, PORSCHE, SAMMITR GREEN POWER, SUBARU, SUZUKI, SWIFT, TATA, TOYOTA, VOLKSWAGEN, and VOLVO plus 15 brands of motorbike, viz. BENELLI, BMW, DUCATI, GPX, HARLEY-DAVIDSON, HONDA, KAWASAKI, KEEWAY, KTM, ROYAL ENFIELD, SUZUKI, TRIUMPH, UDA, VESPA, and YAMAHA.

Concept/prototype cars on display comprise:- HYUNDAI HED-9 First unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, it is designed under the concept “Fluidic Sculpture Design 2.0”, using a small hydrogen fuel cell engine with 36Kw Lithium-ion batteries which can be fully recharged in just a few minutes, ready for a range of over 600 km.

MG CS The new Crossover SUV Concept that MG plans to manufacture and distribute in Thailand soon.

SUBARU VIZIV 2 CONCEPT The AWD 5-door Crossover SUV VIZIV 2 Concept has a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.6-litre direct injection turbo (DIT) engine with CVT transmission, 1 electric motor working with the engine to drive the front wheels, 2 electric motors to drive the rear wheels, and a lithium-ion battery pack.

TOYOTA FT-86 OPEN CONCEPT The FT-86 Open Concept is the convertible version of the Toyota Sport GT 86 – replacing its top by a navy blue folding soft top with glass rear window while retaining coupé form with the 2+2 configuration. The Concept is designed by Toyota Boshoku Milan Design (TBMD).

Numerous other activities also abound such as exhibitions of Vintage Car Club of Thailand, Thai Arts, Culture and National Identity Showground, Motor Expo Young Artists Exhibition, “Skill Driving Experience with IMC”, “Motor Expo Photo Contest 2015”, The 6th Motor Expo Automotive Innovation Award 2015, and activities of Spirit of The 4×4 Driving School, plus activities to give back profits to visitors offering prizes worth over 5 million Baht altogether, comprising “Buy a Car Win a Car”, “Buy a Ticket Win a Car”, “SMS to Win a Car”, “Buy a Motorbike Win a Big Bike”, “Buy Merchandise to Win a Prize”, etc.

To facilitate travelling to and from the Motor Expo 2015, free Express Shuttle Bus service is provided – running 1200-2200 hr on weekdays and 1100-2200 hr on Saturdays, Sundays and official holidays – on 4 main routes as follows.

1) Mo Chit – IMPACT – Mo Chit. MRT Chatuchak Park Station Exit 4, BTS Mo Chit Station Exit 2.
