YALA, Feb 13 – A Sunday explosion at the market in the Yala municipality injured 17 people including three officials and 14 civilians and the cost of damages is estimated at least 10 million baht (US$330,000).
It took about three hours to put the fire under control at 1pm Sunday, after a car bomb exploded outside a bakery shop. Among 17 people wounded, seven remain hospitalised.
A surveillance camera showed that a suspect parked a pickup truck at 7.30am and got out of the vehicle before crossing the road. Later at 9.50am, a bomb exploded when a pickup truck carrying soldiers passed the scene. It is assumed that they were remote-controlled bombs weighing about 20 kilogrammes hidden in three small gas cylinders.
