Thailand’s Supreme Court has dismissed a second case that could have led to the dissolution of the country’s ruling Democrat Party, and angered opposition leaders who believe the legal system is biased in favour of the establishment.
The country’s election commission had accused the Democrat Party of receiving Bt258m ($8.5m) in illegal campaign contributions from TPI Polene, a cement company, during the 2008 election campaign.
But the court on Thursday dismissed the charges on a technicality, saying that the commission had “failed to follow proper legal procedure”.
